The Donavon Mitchell--Jamal Murray matchup was awesome...
...They have a rivalry from when Murray played at Kentucky and Mitchell was at Louisville. They both hit amazing step back 3s several times late in the game yesterday.
Too bad the Nuggets traded away Donavan Mitchell. Murray-Mitchell would be a nice backcourt to go with Jokic, Porter and Rudy Gobert.
Yes, Gobert! The Nuggets drafted him in 2013 and traded him to the Jazz for Erick Green. The Nuggets did trade away Josef Nurkic, but at least got Plumlee and an extra 2nd rounder that turned into Bol Bol.
Nuggets got Trey Lyles and Tyler Lydon for Mitchell. Lyles is now with the Spurs, and Lydon is (?). So, in the end, the Nuggets got nothing out of what could have been Donavan Mitchell.
Lately, they have done real well in 1st round and in the 2nd round with the draft:
1st Round:
Murray (7)
Porter (14)
Gary Harris (19)
2nd round
Jokic (41)
Monte Morris (51)
Vlatko Cancar (49)
Bol Bol (44)
Everyone else came by trade or free agent pickup. Torrey Craig and DJ Dozier are good, inexpensive free agent pickups. They have a nice core for the future.
The Avs have great young players and now the Rockies starting pitching is showing a glimmer of hope for the future. We'll see.
If the Broncos youth pans out, sports in this area are looking upward.
