My 8 year old grand daughter cracked me up today when we were chatting:

about comets and other science stuff.

Apparently some kid in her school/neighborhood comes from a family that believes the Earth is flat. So I asked her what she thought about that:

She said, "Well, during class, I said I can prove the Earth is round because we all can see different stars south of the equator that we can't see here. They can't see some of our stars in the northern. If the earth was flat, everyone could see everyone else's stars". She said the boy wasn't convinced, but the teacher liked it. She has been to Fiji and other southern hemisphere islands.

I thought that was pretty good for an 8 year old. Her Dad is a CU engineering grad, so there is that.
