Re: Hi Gate

DIL was fortunate that the younger one followed her instructions and schedule that she had posted for them. They had class work time and 15 min. breaks and lunch break, all the same every day. The only problem she mentioned was that Evan was having trouble with long division concept and she couldn't recall how to teach it so that he could understand. Ethan tried to help as much as possible but the next thing I found out when I asked Evan how long division was coming, he said they left that and moved on to fractions. ha. Made sense to me. Why beat yourself up if you just don't get it. When I was his age or maybe a grade older, I just could not get "word problems". A math problem but presented in some goofy story form, ie "If so and so had this many of that and then added this and gave half away...how many were left?' Even my dad tried to explain the concept to me. I would just cry in frustration because I could not get it at all. I guess in the end, it didn't matter much but I never did take upper division math, not even algebra. But had no issue with real number problems.
