Sure. Here's another example of something that just happened yesterday.

In New York last week, the Global Entry and Trusted Travelers Program at the airports was suddenly suspended by the federal government. Then, Gov. Cuomo scheduled a visit to the White House to ask that the program be reinstated, in order to faciliate efficient processing of airport passengers.
Trump then responded with a quid pro quo: Unless New York drops the charges and lawsuits against him, then he'll continue the ban on the Global Entry Program. Here's the announcement from Trump - it's a quid pro quo with extortion. ( I can't do the screenshot, but I will copy and paste the announcement) :

( No idea who Fredo is).
This is an example of extortion-- which is a federal crime. What he says is, "If you don't drop these lawsuits against me, then I'll do this to you." That's blackmail -- a crime prosecutable by law. You ( in the general sense of the pronoun) cannot make threats in that manner.
In a democracy, the rule of law applies to everyone, including government officials. The president cannot declare that he or his friends are above the rule of law. In his view, the laws don't apply to him, so that lawsuits against him filed by SDNY and the NY Attorney General, should be dropped. Unless they are dropped, then he threatens to continue the ban on the Global Entry Program and the TTP at the airports.
So, the democracy is threatened because he believes that he ( or his friends) are not subject to the laws of the democracy. I don't think he's "talking a game" here. He seriously wants the lawsuits against him to be dropped. -- B4E
