Hard for me to say a guy who averages 2 mpg is better....

cu's defense is significantly better when Kin is out there because he can contain the other team's point from penetrating which no one else on the roster can do. Plus his overall instincts are off the charts..from his blocked shots, to steals to his help defense..he has a knack for making big plays on D. I think Kin's on the ball defense sets up CU's entire defense. Without him, penetration would make CU's defense very average because no one else on the roster can contain a point like Kin.

Sure Kin's size can be an issue with bigger guards (Ethan Thompson comes to mind) but his competitive will makes up for some of that. (last night Mathews a 6-3 205 pound guard)went 4 of 15 vs. Kin. Parquet's wheel house is guarding the wing and he does it well. I just have a hard time labeling him as the teams best on ball defender when i think kin is one so good, and two Parquet averages 2 minutes played per game while Kin plays about 35-38 minutes per game usually defending the other teams best guard. You also have to consider all we ask of Kin on offense compared to what we ask of Parquet. Kin has to do it all and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on the All Pac-12 defensive team . Very few players in America can keep up with guys like Mannion, Remy and Pritchard but Kin does a great job on those players making it difficult for them. The Wazzu point and the U-dub point couldn't handle Kin's pressure and both teams basically took the ball out of their point guard's hands. Bonton went 4 of 16 w/ 5 to's while Tshonis went 1-4. I also think they moved Kin to Battle after he hit 2 or 3 first half 3's and he had only 1 the rest of the way.

Mannion 4-11 fg's
Pritchard 8-18 fg's (1-6 3fg's)
Martin (x2) 18-43 fg's

Only KU's Dotson who went 4-7, all the other top flight PG's he's faced have shot less than 50%.

Parquet is a very good defensive player but to say he's our "best" on the ball defender I think underestimates Kin's impact on the defensive end.
