Direct TV lost 5% of their customers last quarter, the entire landscape...

of revenue for all sports is changing. Without cable revenue ESPN and Fox cannot continue to shell out the massive amount of revenues to conferences. Clay Travis had a whole show on the impact yesterday. In essence, college sports have benefitted from the traditional cable setup because every subscriber is paying for ESPN, Fox, and the conference networks whether they watch them or not. Without subscribers that subsidize, my mother in law, for example, the revenue streams will be dramatically decreased.

Most of America has had it with cable so be prepared to pay a lot more for sports programming. The good news for televised sports is sports betting is projected to eventually be a $4 trillion industry (seems like a ridiculous figure, the size of big pharma) so look to them to eventually subsidize viewing content.
