JJ finally adapted the offense for SM. This was the first time SM had a good ypa against a top defense in the Pac12 that I can remember. 27/43 for 7.5 ypc. IMO, the passing numbers are a direct result of running SM 7/45 for 6.4 ypc. And it adds a ton of pressure to the defense inside the 20. I'd run SM 10 times a game at least.
And the offensive line has improved significantly, and they keep improving. We're hurting ourselves with penalties, but otherwise we're much improved. 5.8 ypc against USC. It was 3.2 ypc in 2017 and 2.6 last year.
