Recruiting comparison

So I looked at Mac's 2nd year and Mel's 2nd year. Here's what I found:

2013- Ave. rating .81
12th in Pac
68 Nat'l.
Highest recruit- Sefo 87(only one other recruit higher than .85)
Other notables: Bobo, Ross, Tedric, Gilbert, Lindsay, Awuzie, Olugbode, Moeller.

2020- Ave rating .85
6th in Pac
Nat'l rank: 45
Highest recruit: B. Lewis .88(11 over .85)

Obviously Mac's second class was better than the rating. 3 NFL players. But in Mac's 7 classes, he was last in Pac 4 times. In 17, Mac had his highest rated class ave. .85. Lowest in 14 at .80.

Now Mel has the facilities that early in Mac's tenure were just an idea and not tangible. But I think what we can see is that Mel is attracting a higher rated player. If Mel has a good eye for talent and can keep the kids in the fold, I think it's fair to say recruiting is better.

I like Rice's commitment. That's the kind of recruiting battle we need to win more often. We'll probably never out recruit Oregon and Michigan but we have to beat them every once in a while and we certainly need to win more big time recruiting battles with the instate kids. That being said, I'd like to win some of those big time battles on the LOS.
