I come from the time of Peace and Love, so...

Songs that meant something to young people:

The Times They are a Changing ' and
Blowing in the Wind. Both by Bob Dylan
Sounds of Silence-- Simon and Garfunkel
Teach Your Children---Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Get Together-- The Youngbloods
War(what is it good for)--- Edwin Starr
What's Goin On, Marvin Gaye

Music was the instrument through which young people spoke to the establishment during the time when I was in high school

Of course, the Beatles, Stones and The Beach Boys were the catalyst for grooving to tunes. Led Zeppelin, The Moody Blues and the Temptations all got their start in the late '60's.

Of course there was much more. I can't list them all others jump in!
