Yes, there are lots of good DL in those states

but if you have to settle for the leftovers that the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 don't want then you're not getting great talent. The western states, specifically Utah, California, Hawaii, and American Samoa provide lots of Poly DL who are big, strong, mobile, and play with fire and aggression. Phil Steele ranks Utah's def line #1 in the conference, USC's def line #2, and CU's def line #10. Keep in mind that Utah doesn't land recruiting classes that are highly ranked but they have a great def line because of their Poly recruiting at the position. CU needs to start landing these guys.
