All about tradition and time

Agree with Kev in that there are so many sports here in the US for the kids to choose from. Soccer is the first sport for most kids and gender at a young age at a rec level. As kids go through middle school/HS the boys will have to choose between fb and soccer to keep up with the 'Jones'. Girls will have to choose between soccer, track and softball. Easy pick for parents to decide what is the best opportunity for their kids at the next level. I'm not exactly sure what states have soccer during what seasons in HS but it seems like the girls at this level are more 'guided' than the boys into soccer because of this.
