US Men's soccer has improved, but are still far behind...
...USMNT is like PAC12 football trying to compete with the SEC.
To be fair, the road to winning the World Cup in men's soccer is a much tougher task than the US women has. This is not the USWNT fault or problem. They should be paid much better, but not equally because their competitors are not as good, therefore crowds are not as big-- on average. Thus, the money isn't there yet. If the US wants more success in the men's program, they need to pay them.
There are only 5 or 6 good teams in the entire world for women's soccer and only one outstanding team. This is due to the fact that women world wide are not given ample opportunities like in the US. The US has so many more good players in the women's developmental program than other countries. Mexico which has a very strong men's team, is not even close to having a competitive women's team.
The money needed to be highly competitive in mens soccer is absurd due to the Euro leagues and how much money is spent there.
The international market forces are not there for women's soccer yet. I'm not saying it's right, just the way it is.
Look at the pay gap between men's and women's basketball. Our women are even more dominant than the soccer team (7 out of the last 10 world cups).
