Completely disagree - Oregon, UW and Stanford are years ahead

These schools have great coaching staffs in place and have their programs rolling.

Oregon is crushing recruiting with Mario Cristobal. They just added Chris Steele (top 5 CB in the country) to a class that already had #1 overall Kayvon Thibodeaux. Their 2019 class is now #5 in the country, which is better than OU and even Clemson for 2019. They are out-recruiting USC for the top SoCal players. For context on how far we are behind, Oregon's "average" recruit was a .9087 4*. CU's highest rated players (Allen, LaVontae Shenault, Mangham and Ham) were all below .9000 . . . Like it or not stars matter a lot.

UW has an exceptional coach in Chris Petersen and they have won 2 of the last 3 conf. championship games. They consistently get top 20 recruiting classes and get to roll out 5* UGA transfer Jacob Eason at QB this year. They lost a lot of talent to the NFL but they are clearly a "re-load" rather than "rebuild" type of program.

Stanford has more conf championship appearances than any other Pac 12 team. Speaking of the CCG, the North has won 7 out of 8 with Stanford, Oregon and UW all having multiple wins. The South won once when USC had Darnold. Stanford doesn't recruit quite as well due to their academic requirements, but they have been a consistently strong team for a long time and David Shaw is an outstanding coach.

The reality is we (and really this goes for the whole South with the possible exception of Utah) are a long way behind these 3 programs.

MT is a great hire and I think he's going to follow the Cristobal example of being an SEC style program with relentless recruiting in the Pac 12. It will work but it will take time and several recruiting classes to get necessary depth in place to seriously compete with with the powers in the North. Recruiting better talent is key. I know everybody likes to think we're finding diamonds in the rough that we can coach up, but other schools have pretty good coaches, too. . .
