RIP Mike Montler

I'm very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was in the Marines before Colorado football. Eddie Crowder had a way of finding players like Mike who were a bit older and had been in the military. Bud Magrum and Herb Orvis were also former military. Unfortunately, Bud passed away some time ago.
Mike was a big man. Strong and tough offensive tackle, #79. He was a friendly, decent guy off the field. I remember Mike had a tough time getting his cowboy boots on so he had zippers put in them up the insides. Lots of us wore cowboy boots back then. He was like so many of the guys Eddie recruited. Extraordinarily tough football players who were good guys. He will be missed by his family and friends and all of us Buffs-for-Life. May God Bless.
