RIP Mike Montler
I'll post what i posted on another forum:
I grew up with Mike's sons Brandon and Bonner. Brandon and I played on the same baseball team all the way up from LL to Fairview varsity.
To me he was Mr. Montler. Every one I knew loved Mike. He was a kind and engaging man who always took the time to hang out with all us kids at the time.
Heres a Mike Montler funny story: Mike was famous for going to all our games and showing up in nothing but running shorts and flip flops (I'm sure many of the moms sitting in the stands found him more interesting to watch than us kids). He was always perpetually tan. It was just after Mt Saint Helen blew its top, and ash was falling in Boulder. At a point during the game, the coach on the opposing team yells out to Mike, "Mr, Montler, put on a shirt! Everyone is worried about the ash soiling the view!" The stands erupted in laughter, including Mike. He was always a great sport.
PS: It was Mike who was the front man to bring back the black and gold when we were wearing those awful baby blue unis that fairbanks brought in.
He will be missed. [Post edited by HooYahBUFF at 12/23/2018 09:11AM]
