If it were as easy as you make it sound - Larry Scott would have done it.

Here's an explanation of the eyeballs difference between SEC, Big 10 and P12. People in those areas kive and breathe football. It is everything to them. That isn't close to the case in California or Arizona or Oregon or Colorado. My honest guess. More people in Colorado will watch Alabama that will watch CU. More people in California will watch Notre Dame than will watch USC. And in the Midwest and Southeast - barely anyone will turn on a P12 game.

Under these circumstances getting anyone to pay much for a national P12 contract that would put P12 schools into 60 million homes seems far fetched.

Now the P12 COULD do that. BYU has done that with ESPN - at the price of getting paid a small fraction of what any P5 conference school now gets.

On this front, looking back, CU would have been better off staying with Texas, Oklahoma KState etc. Even they are doing better financially than P12 schools. But that is hindsight. CU made the right decision at the time when it went to the P12, as at that moment we were at risk of becoming a school without a conference. But it is now locked into what us, right now, the weakest of the P5 conferences (from a financial perspective).

Don't mistake me - as a BYU fan first and a CU fan second, I know BYU wood jump into the P12 if ever given the chance. But the P12 is in a very difficult place - a man twice as good as Karry Scott may not be able to solve this problem.
