He chose the true freshman from day one...
supposedly Daniels and Sears were very close after summer/fall as to who would start. I think Daniels's dad had a lot to do with his kid starting. He sounds like one of those fathers that are over involved and demanding. Probably threatened Helton with transferring if he wasn't #1. Sears could and should have played more.
Hopefully Daniels will be what he's supposedly capable of by maturing. He made a ton of mistakes and yes, injuries were part of it as was a weak O Line. But he was no Sam Darnold (who red shirted and learned a lot) and I doubt he ever will be.
