Its me sardonically replying. Yes, guard troops have been posted overseas now for many years. In many combat actions, the Guard has served for years now, inserted with active duty troops.
I don't post much on this board, so I'll give you the benifit of the doubt, but yes. I'm a veteran, but im not part of the military presence down here. Im a Senior Border Patrol Agent, for a bit over 17 years now. My active duty military years were during the 80s and 90s, which helped pay for my CU tuition.
The troops are serving in a support capacity. They cannot detain or make arrests. The BP and CBP are the only enforcement authority on any US border, as per law. So, they serve to free up agents to work the line that would otherwise be assigned as dispatch, processing, or general administrative duties.
