I was in sales for many years. They put me in
management . I did well then leveled off. I had a come to Jesus meeting with my boss one day. He pointed
out all the good things I did then he hit home. He
told me my biggest weakness was I liked to be liked.
It really rang a bell with me. I took his constructive
critizium and changed how I led. The bottom line
became “Produce or be cut loose.” My career thrived.
I found out that when you have to cut a weak producer
you are really doing them a favor. They know they
aren’t getting done. They aren’t happy and once
they are gone they usually find something they enjoy.
